Autobody Speciaties vs Goodmark?
« on: December 11, 2006 - 04:40:09 PM »
Are they both selling the same stuff?   I'm needing a trunk lid and a non cut out rear valence.....   What are pro's and cons of these 2 parts???

Also....How good is the pin on TA hood?   I'm looking for one, but prefer the hinged one.....

I bought a bunch of body parts from Autobody Specialties, and the full rear quarters were Goodmark items, in Goodmark boxes. Great guys to deal with and the best pricing I could find too. :2thumbs:

I bought the rear valance from goodmark and it fit like a glove, it's supposed to be built from the original die, but the lower rear quarters were another story.  My body guy had to fab some tabs that were missing form the repro.

As mentioned above, I think Auto Body Specialties is just a reseller of parts (similar to Sherman & Associates here in Detroit).  I'm not sure who makes their parts, but a lot of these resellers use parts from Cross Canada and Goodmark.

Goodmark does indeed make their own parts, either directly or under license.  I ordered the full factory style quarter panel, and it arrived in a box marked 'CSL' or 'CSH', something like that - but no Goodmark logo.  I called Goodmark, and found out this is the Chinese company that actually makes the quarters for them.  The quality was excellent, unlike some of the patch panels I bought from other companies, where the tolerances were apparently plus/minus 2 inches.

To answer your question:  The panel you buy from Auto Body Specialties (or anyone else) might, or might not, be the Goodmark panel.  I would call both companies and ask.

Just my  :2cents:

The rockers arent replacements, just covers, i learned the hard way, ended up rebending small pieces to patch the old ones!

:bigshades: bought from paddock and year one and never had a BAD fit on any replacement panels. a little tweeking is to be expected. these rocker COVERS sucked.never again from auto body specialties. they have lost me as a cust for the cost of 2 rockers, been rebuilding muscle cars 20 yrs+.
