PlumCrazy (Sorry - I incorrectly directed this to 6pak earlier): You are correct that I don't have the material spec.  Most of the cars I've seen look like yours - Almost like they sprayed undercoating in there.

I look forward to seeing responses on here, so I can determine how to paint that area.

Thank you again,
Tom

Sorry the last one is hard to see. From the edge of the trunk follow the body 7 1/4 is the top of the small stripe 6 1/2 is the top of the big stripe. I had the car painted first (I know not the correct way) then painted the bee stripe on top. We marked 7 1/4 and taped above that than 6 1/2 taped above that mark with 5/16 thin line tape and sprayed the whole thing at once. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Barry,  Chrysler thought a black bumble bee stripe and black rear tail panel were not a good idea either.  I believe if you ordered a black bee stripe the tail panel was left body color on an R/T.  Do you know of any documentation either way?

Hey guys...If you will look at my avatar you will notice the bumblebee stripe and a painted tail panel.  This was a 340 car and came from the factory that way.

Me either. I have avatars set to off since I have dial up, it helps the pages load faster.

If you mean the tail panel is black, if it ever gets a nick or scratch in the paint, look for yellow underneath. The stripe color was painted first, so if there is any yellow under the black it was repainted at some point.

Original bumble bee stripes. Barrry knows the history of this car.

6pak: I saw that car in your posting in the Bumblebee thread, and I have been kind of using it as a guide.  (Oddly enough, the stripes extend into the bumper cutout area, which is different than the drawing).  Interesting color combo there!

Lunchbox:  That looks like an SE, with the Astrotone panel.  Thanks for the information.

TreeFrog: I've seen plenty of examples both ways.  Most bumblebee striped cars don't seem to have the blackout, but I have seen plenty that do (mostly original R/T's).

I guess since mine is a clone-R/T, I will use that combo.  Now watch, I will go to all this effort for the BB stripe, and stand back and wish I had put the side stripe instead!   :-[

That last one is a good shot.  I think you could take a touch or Artistic Liscense with the BB Stripe (location, size, etc).

I think we have decided to drop the stripe and keep the tail panel black.  It is more original for a 73, but the big thing was loosing the deffinition on the tail end of the car...
