Front end rebuild
« on: January 21, 2007 - 11:57:43 AM »
Today I started ripping apart my front suspension and pretty much figured it should all be replaced(tie rods, bushings, etc.). I want to use polyurethane or graphite polyurethane. Which place has the best deal for front end kits? How much will it stiffen up my front end? Should I get a kit with the idler arm, mine is OK? I would like the car stiffened up for cornering but don't want to us a alterkshon kit etc. I plan on ordering 17x8 rims for all four corners with 4.5" backspacing. Would these rims fit with out moving leaf springs and with out hitting my front fenders when turning? Should I put new bushing in the rear end to help stiffen it up? Keep in mind I am not road racing but want to corner nicely.
Thanks
Todd

the way I do it is to buy the poly kit from Energy suspension , it will stiffen up the the front end a lot over 35 year old rubber pieces
as far as the BAll joints etc I buy Moog parts as needed , the trick is to replace the tie rods & sleeves with the bigger C body parts , they bolt right in

Oversized torsion bars are somthing you will want to look into. Follow link. http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=28847.0

I would have gone with the 1.0s or better. You'd be surprised how these cars respond with some real spring rates. If you plan to take the plunge into modern rubber, you'll see what I mean. Ride quality is mostly dictated by the quality level of the shocks. This is the key to our kits. A properly matched shock is what makes the difference. Put KYBs on for instance, and you will need dental work....
