Is it possibe to replace a power steering gear with the motor in the car with factory manifolds?

no Factory manifolds will not steer the car
OK seriously you will probably have to remove the manifold but it should be possible , I have done it on a Hemi car

Just replaced mine, just barely had room to get it out between the head and the shock tower with the mainifold off so to answer your question no it won't come out without removing the manifold.

I'll have to replace mine too.. but I got TTI headers.. will those clear? 340ci

I had to unbolt the headers (didn't have to take out) but also had to remove the battery and battery tray. If you remove the pitman arm first you probably won't have to remove the battery tray but that's a bit harder.

I've got the battery in the trunk.
To bad I've got to loosen the headers, hate those bolts that goes into the waterchannel!

As close as my headers are to the steering box I think it would be a problem. I had to remove the header to install a new starter. The header is also dimpled over the steering box and has only 1/4" to 3/8" clearance.
