340 block widths
« on: January 26, 2007 - 04:17:39 PM »
I am going to pick up a 340 tomorrow and wanted to build a frame of wood for it to sit on for the 5 hr drive home. What I need is the dimensions of the block where the ears are for the motor mounts and the dimensions for the back so it will not move around. If anyone has any other helpful hints on how to transport a motor, let me know. Thanks

Back in the day, we used to sit the motor inside a couple of old tires and then use tie downs and 4 corner it.  Worked pretty good---never lost one anyways........       :ylsuper:    :icon16:   :smokin:

The sides are 2x8, the box ends are 2x4. There is a piece of 1/2 plywood nailed to the bottom to hold it together, and 3/4" plywood gussets nailed to each end.

Once you get it home you can add small caster wheels at each corner to move it around in your garage.  ;)
