    Hello Fellow Mopar enthusiasts,   I have a question regarding steel crankshafts in 318 eng.  I have a 318 that came in a 1978 D300 dump truck.  I think all dump truck eng had a steel crank.  I have had a couple people tell me all Dodge trucks in late 70's had steel cranks.  Does anyone know an easy way I can verify this?  I have an aquaintance that wants to use the crank in a '72 340 for a 'Cuda, & I dont want to lead him astray.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.    Tks,  Ovmf

    Check the casting marks on the crank, if they are wide (about 1") and look a little rough, then it may be forged.  If the marks are thin and look fairly smooth, them it may be cast.

    If you can post some pics of the crank, I should be able to tell you by looking.
