Spark Plug Readings
« on: February 03, 2007 - 06:12:41 PM »
Chryco, Check out my plugs today, Do they look on the lean side or normal. 340 w/T-Q carb jetts are .095/.143. 1996 rod with orange chrysler box, RN-9-YC Champions, timing 34*. Approx. 2,700 miles on them. The car all of a sudden is just burning my eyes today. No miss firing , I also leak tested the engine, I went from 5% average back in May of this year to average 23% today..Don't know why yet....Vin...

Thanks CP, I was going to try 2 heat ranges hotter to RN-11-YC anyway. But the jetting I could go to a .098 primary and a .157 in the back, but that seens a l;ttle rich to me for a street engine. I was just thinking if it was something oin the heads. i was told that two different machine shops had there hands on these things, so I was going to have another pair of 587's done since there on the shelf taking up space. Also the leakage concerns me a little too...         I re-rung the engine back in April of this year.....

they are not way off , they do have some color , but to be safe & try for at least a light tan color
Plug reading is not the best way to dial it in anyway , I have tested on a dyno & plugs that looked lean seemed rich in a few cases & the other way too , rich looking plugs showed lean
