72 Cuda Drag Car - What's it worth?
« on: February 02, 2007 - 01:59:44 PM »
BUILT TO RACE. PROFESSIONALLY BUILT - 440 MOTOR WITH DEMON CARB, 727 AUTOMATIC TRANS, MSD DISTRIBUTOR, 7AL IGNITION SPOOL, 8 POINT ROLL CAGE, BACK HALFED AND WIRED. NEW 13" REAR SLICKS AND NEW FRONT TIRES & WHEELS. NEW MOSER AXLES, BRAKE LINES, K&N AIR FILTER, BATTERY BOX AND OPTIMA BATTERY. IT HAS HAD APPROXIMATELY 20 PASSES AT THE TRACK SINCE BUILT. THE PERSON THAT BUILT THE CAR DIDN’T HAVE IT BACK HALFED SO HE CUT OUT THE REAR QTRS TO ACCOMODATE THE LARGE WHEELS AND TIRES. THE 2ND OWNER BOUGHT THE CAR AT THE TRACK AFTER IT MADE 3 IMPRESSIVE 1/4 MILE PASSES. THIS 2ND OWNER HAD THE CAR BACK HALFED AND MADE 17 PASSES AT THE TRACK BEFORE HE WAS TRANSFERRED OUT OF THE AREA.

THE FRONT FENDERS ARE METAL and THE MOTOR WAS BUILT TO ADD NITROUS OXIDE.  I think it's supposed to run in the 11's.

Thinking of buying it but don't want to spend to much....

From what I can see of the car and the description, I have to say $8 - 10,000 and that still may be alittle high.  Those old drag cars just don't hold their value.  :dunno:   See them on e-bay alot  :chatting: and unless its something special, it doesn't bring the money.   :grinno:  JMO

Well it would take more then 10k to buy a 72 b-cuda and all the stuff you mentioned then adding an 8 point and back half. Has the guy got a price in mind?  Is it gutted, or does it retain the dash and some other stuff?
You were told right about hard to recoupe on drag cars, but a cuda drag car does hold certain value.

11 seconds is just a little drag car tho. so you won't be happy with the engine. and nhra doesn't run NOS. If you think its worth 10 then it is. It does have 10k in everything it has

Ok but it's gonna take thousands of dollars to fix all the stuff thats wrong with that car too.

So Hookem, what price are they asking anyway ?

I didnt see where he said there was anything wrong to be fixed. He can run nos and just have some fun. But for the street, if thats what your saying, then yes, there is lots to fix up.

he said he'll take 10K for it but he might go a little less?  I guess I want something i can customize and not regret.  my other barracuda is nice enough that i don't want to cut it up or anything.. even though it's a 318 car converted.  NO rust and have already gone though most of it.  what do you think it'll take to convert back to a streetable prostreet?

It also doesn't have a title..like most drag cars. So I am not sure what a pain that will be if I want to title and drive the car?

I was just talking about all the body work and paint to fix the quarters ect.

10G for a round taillight car that has no title?  I know it has all that race stuff but you can never get you money back when you buy retail.

It's definitly not the deal of the day anyhow.....

I think one of the things I was thinking is that if it was a cuda (even a 72) it would be worth it.  There aren't many cuda's left and even fewer Cuda drag cars.  If it was another car i probably would agree right off the bat with you.  I have only seen two or three drag cars and they are both twice the money this guy is asking.

Hell I can't decide what to do.  I am stuck like chuck!

I think if you want a cuda bb race car for 10k , then go for it. If you want to have a street car , keep looking....ALAN
