Ok Power Brakes to Manual - Pushrod and Firewall question
« on: February 02, 2007 - 08:20:32 AM »
I've read here and there that there may be some sort of firewall plate/adapter needed when changing a power brake car to manual? Is this necessary? Anyone have a picture of what needs to change, if anything?

Also for those without a factory manual pushrod setup where is the cheapest/best fitting manual pushrod thats being sold?

Thanks!

Whats the purpose of it? Build up that area of firewall by the pedal for the increased load on it?
It's mounted from the interior side of the firewall i assume, and not under the hood?
Anyone repop them, or you gotta find one?
And last, are they a/b/c/e/etc body specific or just any manual mopar will have one?

Thanks

Thanks for the help Chryco, looks like a friend of mine out in Texas has a manual brake challenger he wants to make a power brake car. We'll likely just trade my booster/linkage/pushrod for his Firewall plate and pushrod. ...not to mention he is the guy with the 833od I'm getting too.  :dogpile:

I'll have to see if the stock manual pushrod will work with the late model alum master.  :clueless:

Alrighty here is what I've aquired so far. Just waiting on the little foam gaskets.

  • Late model 1.125" Bore Alum Master Cylinder
  • AR Late model master adapter
  • Factory Dustboot
  • Firewall plate off a 71 Manual Brake Challenger
  • Manual Pushrod from same 71 Challenger

I do also need the pushrod retaining grommet.  :drunk:

Hopefully it all works.  (and the pushrod is the right size  :clueless:)
