I just found this post, computer died on me a week ago and I just now got back on line. I have a 1957 392 Hemi in my Cuda. It's not the easiest swap to do, that thing is WIDE! Is there something specific you needed to know?

no, I used to have access to a buch of them. I was talking with my old friend that could get them, and he said he thought he knew where one more was...just got me curious.

Sorry about the slow reply, I've been in Albuquerque for my son's state wrestling tourney. I've got a couple of pics (thanks to the guy at the computer shop saving my files off my hard drive!) The first one is when I first put the engine in the car and it had a single 4 bbl. The second one is when it had the dual 4 setup on it. :burnout:

I suspect a 440 built about the same as my 392 would be quite a bit stronger running. I had to modify a set of shorty headers to fit the car, which compromises the exhaust breathing, and the 392 is about 150 lbs. heavier than a 440. The 392 is a long stroke motor (3.91") and is basically a low RPM torque motor. The bottom end is amazing, but the redline is between 5500 and 6000 RPM. These motors were reved higher in fuel cars back in the day, but for a street engine on pump gas that's about it.
