Another ?
« on: February 18, 2007 - 06:22:41 PM »
This might be a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. From pic's that I have seen of California Cuda's they had restriction as far as noise goes.A couple that I have seen, the exhaust didn't go through the rear valance. So if this was the case, could you order an AAR or T/A and get it with the side exit trumpet's in California? And could you order an n96 shaker set up on a Cuda or Challenger?

The turn down tips were only for the 440-6 and Hemi cars in CA. N96 had nothing to do with it.  ;)

I can attest to what Barry said. Having the CA N95/N97 emission noise package did not affect the offering of the N96 shaker option. I should know, my car has all three N95-6-7 codes. Totally unrelated, even though N96 is smack in the middle!

As far as I know, T/A's got by with side exhausts, even in California.  8)

MY car is also a N-95 Calif. car and it is a 383 with rear exit exhaust. I was told it was mostly Cuda's for some reason that had turn downs.

The exhaust turn-downs applied ONLY to Hemis and 440-6's, regardless of Cuda/Challenger model, and all others got rear exits even with the CA emissions.

IIRC, I do believe maryland did not allow the side exit exhaust on Trans Am cars. I dont think Ma Mopar modified them, they just didn't sell them there.

One more question, any other states that wouldn't sell an AAR or T/A because of the exhaust?
