Challenger hood vibration
« on: February 19, 2007 - 01:30:20 PM »
When I am driving my Challenger it seems like the hood bounces around from side to side against the fenders.  Am I missing bumpers, or is there a magic hidden adjustment that I have missed?

I think I am correct when I say this.....There are supposed to be a couple of spring loaded plastic wedges that  are located on the sides of the fenders which contact the sides of the hood and prevents this from happening.  Also as I remember back when I drove my original Challenger, as the speed increased the front left and right corners would raise up from the wind resistance.  That is why I put hood pins on mine.

   :iagree:

That made my decision to go with hood pins easier too.  There are pads on each fender towards the cowl. That should take care of the left to right movement, but mine always wanted to come up at high speeds.  :scared:

the plastic spring loaded wedges are not in that bumper kit but are available & should be in the rear corners of the inner fender to support the hood

Thanks for all your help.  I will look at getting a set of the clips.   I don't have a choice on the hood pins, since the hood has the cutouts already, I'll need to order a set of them at the same time.

yes, the hood pins would not stop everything as the hole are not REAL snug, so I would get both...

I got my hoodpin kit and bumper kit from Josh's Musclecar Parts. He has an Ebay store, and the link is below. He's very reasonable on his pricing and has good service. As said before most of the repro parts come from the same source, no matter who sells it, and Josh's stuff is as good as anything else I've seen.
