I had a full manual 727 automatic in the cuda and it was fun and more consistent at the track but I swapped it out to a four speed and it is way more funner!(I flunked english  :smilielol:) There is nothing like powershifting second at 6500rpm as the car is going sideways and of course what is cooler looking than a Pistol Grip shifter?

Which trans has set the faster time at the track Torred? Just curious.
I know the Auto would be more consistent but not necessarily the fastest time setter.

What's the button for? NOS, line lock?

Automatics in muscle cars are for GIRLY MEN (HAHA) - just my opinion- i love 4 speeds plus if you look at car values 4 speeds are 99% more valuable

easier to do this with a manual even if you have a ricer :burnout: :burnout:

I got 1         I could have bought an auto car in ten minutes.Took me 9 months to find a 4 speed. I have no regrets with it!  Mountain driving requires it.  The people that live around up here know the red car is loud! Flowmaster 40's cause rock slides...he he.

I really enjoy shifting my pistol grip shifter. It gives you a different power feeling shifting through the gears. The shifter in my Cuda looks pretty da** good to.

Ohhh that looks awesome without the console. I think the E-body console ruins the interior.  :2thumbs:

4 speeds are the best in my opinion, using say the 3.54:1 suregrip. I get the most fun out of driving my 70 Charger factory 4 speed than any other car I have. A conversion can be a lot of work and $$ but would probably be worth the fun. But honestly the ole 727 three speed ain't too shabby either. Everybody needs at least one 4 speed car, let the hormones roar.  :roflsmiley:

Been looking and still looking for a 4spd set-up that's reasonable, I have the pedal assembly out of a 72 car, someday I guess.....

The auto used to run 13.3`s-13.5`s at around 100mph and when I swapped to the four speed I actually lost a couple tenths mainly in the 60' time.Trying to launch a high revving,no bottom end 340 on BFG radial T/A`s is a bit tricky and the four speed was getting a little sticky to powershift so it`s getting a rebiuld with new synchros before spring. The button is a line lock for nice smokies!

I've always said this.... You DRIVE a 4 speed, you AIM an automatic.

Just personal preference, I've owned plenty of each.

I have an auto and a 5-spd, I like driving them both but If I had to make a decision as to which I like best I guess I'd have to go with the 5-spd. Nothing like rowing through the gears and the extra power you feel with the manual tranny.

Thanks Torred, very respectable times too might I add. Best of luck to you in the coming season.

Autos are usually faster at the track, but that is due to the consistancy factor. All other things being equal, a four speed car that is set up properly to hook up off the line will be faster than an auto equipped car if the driver has the talent to work the four speed tranny. Ronnie Sox was a good example of that!
