A/T 4 gear planetary and carrier

I cleaned up this B RB 4 gear planetary. I hear that they are only in high performance A/T's. Others are only 3 gears.  Is that true? Also what is something like this worth? Are they desirable?

Yes they are desirable & most 727 had 3 gear planetaries unless it was a HD unit

They are desirable but not "required" I have a couple of sponsered drag cars running 3 pinion planetaries running 750-800 horse power.They have been in there for 7 years and no failures with 2 foot wheelie launches.
You could probably get $50 bucks for the planet and ring gear together .

Pretty much all the trannys I have taken aprat made after '73 had 4 pinion planetaries in them. They are stronger.But the 3 pinion ones will hold well past 450hp. I've broken 4 pinions in a C body with a very mild 383...lol, and seen 3 pinions hold in race cars over 500hp. I guess it's all how they are treated.
