What Happen's When
« on: February 25, 2007 - 10:36:22 AM »
My wife decided to bake a cake last Sunday. She took it out the oven to cool and we were in watching  TV and heard nails on the counter top which is about 42" high. Our crazy 2 year old chocolate lab Rocky decided he couldn't wait for the cake to cool and get iced.
Just another of many of his little tricks.

Yes, we had one of our dogs try that on Thanksgiving!!  I almost killed one big puppy!  But when you calm down and think about it...she was just doing what everyone else was wanting to do.

Gotta love it! Ours does thing like that to this day. When he was younger, he also had a plastic fetish and was good at chewing the plastic coffee cups I take from home/shop. Actually repleced quite a few.   :grinyes:

That's funny!! But not when you're smacking yer lips thinking about a nice slab of cake only to find it gone!! :roflsmiley: I love labs and had a black lab for 15 years. He used to get into the garbage can at night when no one was around. He thought he was slick, but I fixed him up one night. I knew he couldn't resist some KFC chicken bones (don't worry. I never fed him chicken bones). So I set a box of KFC bones right on the top of the can. What Zeus (my dog's name) didn't know was that there was a mouse trap in the box. I wrapped tape around the metal trap to lessen the blow so it wouldn't cut his tongue. I went to bed and forgot the trap until I was woke up to the sound of a loud YELP!! That dog NEVER got in the garbage can again and as a matter of fact he walked a ten foot berth around it from then on and gave it a look like it was going to jump out and get him. LOL  :smilielol: That cured him. Try it if your dog gits in the garbage can!!

Yep, that's a dog for you. ( I know, we've got 3 of 'em ). They pull something like that, at first you're mad as hell, but after you cool down you can appreciate the funny part of it too.

My two dogs are angels.  They only steal food from each other, never from us.  But we share quite a bit of people food with them, on account of them being angels.

The cat (now departed) however... it was never safe to leave a bowl of pasta (with tomato sauce) or olives of any type out in the open.  How a golden tabby could be 50% tomato sauce red in 30 seconds was beyond me.  And olives were worse than catnip.

My wife just had to have a poodle about 7 years ago so I bought the thing for her. Everytime we would leave the dog alone in the house she would tear something up, usually houseplants. One evening my wife baked a cake for my son's birthday and then left it on the kitchen table while she went to wallyworld for some decorations. Unfortunatelly she left a chair pulled out and, you guessed it, the poodle got on the table and helped herself to about a third of that cake! :smilielol: That was the straw that broke the camel's back, the poodle has been a yard dog since then. Her decision, not mine. If it had been up to me the dog would have been out the door long before that but as I've gotten older and wiser I've learned to let things run their course and let the wife have the final sayso on some things! :roflsmiley:

:roflsmiley: Chezzzz, you guys are so easy on your pets, when I did that as a kid I got my lil ass beat good.  :roflsmiley: I guess I should have been a puppy.  :smilielol:  Really, all you needed to do was cut the corner piece of cake out and ice the rest and it would have looked like someone just took out a piece of cake.  :clapping:

BTW, he is a beautiful dog, very regal. I'll take him  :2thumbs:

your dog is gorgeous, we have 5 mini dachshunds, i can divulge all their names cuz the wife named some, but one is named Ken (black), Tigger (brindle), Dick & Jane (both white) and another female

they are a part of the family and are referred to as children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, etc in their relationship :roflsmiley:
