Exhaust System Help
« on: April 05, 2007 - 10:11:01 AM »
I have a 360 crate engine (380hp) in a dodge challenger convertible with a 727 automatic.  I bought the engine in 1998 and I don't believe it came with a W2 head on it.  I'd like to buy headers for my car that are 1 7/8 for my car and I'm not sure whose headers/exhaust system to buy.  I was focused on getting a full TTI system but don't think their offering for headers will meet my needs.  I like to buy a full exhaust system from the same place to match the headers.   Since I drive the car mainly during the spring through Fall months I want to buy a premium long lasting system for my car.  So I was planning on getting coated headers and leaning towards the stainless steel systems I've seen.  I also would like to have an "X" crossing system behind the headers to help get the maximum power out of my car.    :stirpot:

So from a technical and personnal satisfaction point of view what are my options, choices for getting a good buy and other items I need to take into consideration.  Thanks.

Me?

Meet in the middle, get a set of good headers, I like Hooker Super comps, never have had a problem with them. Then, find a shop to custom build your system with 2 1/2" aluminized pipe. Mufflers? I like Hooker Aerochambers. But exhaust is like camshafts, there are so many opinions........LOL

i also have a 360ci challenger with a 727 automatic, i have a full TTI system (not X but a H crossing) and dynomax mufflers and i'm very satisfied with it, i makes a really nice and deep sound.A fellow challenger owner from holland tried hedmann headers in its 340 but had troubles with ground-clearance at speedbumps...we have them a lot here... with the TTI system, i never have those troubles!

and like dimples mentioned  :iagree:: it's just like camshafts, too many options

You also have to remember, a TTI H, probably wont make less power than a X put in by a shop. The TTI systems are engineered, and tested on a dyno.

Me? I cant afford the damn TTI system, but I have a bender too..............

Which header did you go with 1 7/8 or 1 5/8?
