Console: Auto vs. 4-Speed
« on: October 30, 2007 - 04:31:18 PM »
Is the only difference in the '71-'74 auto and 4-speed consoles the top plate?  Reason for my question is I have a line on a restored console, but it's a 4-speed console and I have an auto.

No, the consoles are different as the side of the 4-speed console has a cutout on the drivers side to clear the shifter boot which is larger than the one on the auto. I posted a pic of the drivers side of a 4-speed so you can compare to yours.

Mike

Buy the console and sell it for $$$ on E-Bay.  :naughty: The 4-speed consoles go for much more than the auto's do.

If the price is right, buy it.  I know that you could always trade it for an auto and get some cash to boot.  I know I have an auto I'd trade for it.
