71 GTX - Fender Tag and Track Pack Questions
« on: March 22, 2007 - 10:26:52 AM »
Ok, I'm somewhat new to the Mopar game and have a few basic questions -

1.  What does the track pack option include for a '71 GTX?

2.  My car is a two fender tag car, but there's nothing on the second tag except for "26 END" and "RS23 U1G" followed by the last 6 digits of the VIN.  Did they forget to fill out some of the other info?  I don't have anything on either tag about several items that could (should?) be there, including power steering, type of steering wheel, tires, and wheels.  Did someone forget to fill in the info on the second tag?

Here are the options from the first tag -

E86 440-4 Barrel High Performance
D21 Heavy Duty 4-Speed Manual Transmission
TX9 Paint Code: Black / Black Velvet
P6X9 Trim Grade/Style/Color Premium Black Bucket Seats
TX9 Upper Door Frame: Black / Black Velvet
C17 Date Built: 12 / 17 / 1970
XXXXX Order Number: XXXXX
TX9 Roof Type OR Color:  Black / Black Velvet
U Built to Specifications for USA Order
A33 3.54:1 Dana 60 Track Package
A45 Spoiler Package - Front & Rear
B41 Front Disc Brakes Some Yrs. Power
B51 Power Assisted Brakes
C16 Console w/ Buckets
C55 Bucket Seats
G11 Tinted Glass All
G33 Left Hand Outside Mirror - Manual / Chrome
J45 Hood Tie Down Pins
J78 Front Spoiler
J81 Rear Spoiler - Wing Type 70-2
M21 Roof Drip Rail Moldings
M25 Wide Sill Molding
M31 Belt & Hood Molding
N41 Dual Exhaust w/o Tips
N42 Chrome Dual Exhaust Tips
N85 Tachometer
N96 Fresh Air Hood
R11 Music Master Radio AM
V7W Accent Stripes - White
CTD Continued on 2nd Tag

The car is complete and unmolested, so I should be able to find the broadcast sheet, if it's hidden on the car somewhere.

Thanks for any info,

Scott

I posted some pics of it many moons ago, but they're on another thread.  Car isn't much of a looker now - needs paint, bumpers chromed, etc.  Bought it last year from 2d owner.  Has 68,000 original miles.  Block is non-original and it's missing the original wheels and radio, but other than that, it's all there.

Thanks for the info on the track pack; I guess super track pack would be the same thing with 4.10 gears?

Anyone have any ideas about the 2d fender tag?  Why it's blank?  I should have some other options on there, right?

Bulletpruf,

I own a 70 Challenger R/T that's a two tag car and there is very little on the sencond tag.  To me it doesn't make any sense either.  A lot of the codes on the tag are part of a R/T package and should have been on the tag, but who cares.  I have both tags and the car.

Some of the items your mentioned would only be on the broadcast sheet.

Fender tag codes typically show items that required body modifications and things like paint and interior colors.

The second fender tag will only list the items that did not fit on the first tag.  ;)

Scott,
I believe that all fender tags need to have the "end" on it....as your first one did not have room for it, that was the only thing along with the VIN that was put on the second tag....
69 RoadRunner (clone)
70 Cuda 383 4 speed (project) one of the first few off the line at Hamtramck with a 1017XX VIN
70 Cuda convertible 340 4 speed (project)
70 Barracuda (project)
71 GTX 440 4 speed (project)
72 Cuda 340 3 speed (project)
3 Harleys
95 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel 4x4

and 26 for the 26" radiator opening.  ;)

Places to check for broadcast sheets;

Taped to the back side / top of the glove box insert.
Under the front bucket seats in the springs
Inside the bucket seat backs
Under the rear seat bottom
In the rear seat back.
Under the package tray(speaker shelf)
Under the carpet

Best of luck witrh the search.

Thanks for all the info.  I'm guessing the "26" is the only thing that needed to go on the second tag.

I can't post any pics.  Deployed to Iraq now and don't have access to websites or software to resize pics.  I can e mail some if someone can post for me.

I'll see if I can find the broadcast sheet when I get home next year.

Thanks,

Scott
