Exhaust for 72 chally 440
« on: March 05, 2007 - 02:48:08 PM »
hey guys/ gals I have been debating exhaust now for at least 2 months. Some people i have talked to like magnflow systems or flowmaster,.......... and on and on . I like the sound of flowmaster but i dont know  if xpipe h pipe or true duals make the difference or not. I have a 440 bored 30 over. 3 angle valve job, regular 906 heads mild port and polish, torker 440 intake, 486/504 lift cam, tti 1 7/8 headers and a 770 holley street avenger. the car will not be used for the track but more for the street. I want an exhaust that will turn heads. The sound of the blue chally in the burnout thread titled " do you like smoke 18 inches of smokin wheels 550 hp" is the sound i am lookin for  but i cant get ahold of that guy that posted it ..... so i figured i would levae it up to you all. I have never tried a poll before so hopefully this will work . any comments would be appreciated thanks

Definitely go "H" or "X". I have the H on mine, but the X has been proven to be even better. I think your big ordeal here will be choosing mufflers. Not only that, but what kind of sound you want. For instance, the Flowmaster 40 series are what most people might like, but some prefer the 50 series because it's a little quieter.

But if its quieter you will have a harder time setting off car alarms :smilielol:

I have 3" exhaust w/flowmaster super 40's on a 72 Dodge Challenger 440....straight duals though..the H & X dont benefit me for low rpm torque as my tranny loads at about 3000+ ...  :burnout: thinking about having the pipes come out in front of the tires   :burnout:
