70 Challenger R/T Side Stripe Repair?
« on: March 11, 2007 - 12:49:28 AM »
Hello Fellow Members,

Regarding R/T Side Stripes:  My R/T suffered a tiny bit of damage in the stripe at the very edge of the driver's door (it is noticable).  Look's like the door was opened in a tight area and the edge rubbed up against a wall or something causing a slight 'disturbance' in the stripe tape (might have been me when I unloaded the car off an enclosed trailer).  It's not severe enough to buy an entire kit just to replace that one component.  Does anyone know of a product that can repair the disturbance like maybe a liquid brush on vinyl (similar to touch-up paint)?

Thanks.

I would contact ChallengerGary. I was able to buy just the one piece that I needed for one of my front fenders from him.

Thanks for the contact info Challenger6pak.  Is the application difficult?  I was hoping I could use something like a brush-on liquid vinyl to correct the damage since it's so minor (but noticable) rather than having to remove the entire piece and install a new one.  I'm not experienced at all with installing the tape and fear that I will not get it perfectly straight.

I'll be honest, the door stripes are not easy to do, as you have to fold them over each edge, and match the other 2 stripes. Can you possibly post a pic of your problem area, then maybe we can advise you.

I can post a picture, but it will have to week until sometime next week.  The car is about an hour away from me at my engine builder's shop.  Next time I'm there (sometime during this week), I'll take some pictures.

Thanks, Joe

I had that happen on a black stripe car once. A little black paint applied to the area with a small artist's brush took care of it, no one ever noticed.

That is what I did, just go to a local hobby shop and get a jar of Tamiya semi-gloss black acrylic.  It was a perfect match for my stripe.
Looking for my buildsheet starting with: JS29N0B115###
