440 intake
« on: March 14, 2007 - 06:51:11 PM »
I have a TM7 that came on my 440 when I bought the car 2 years ago...however I just received information that the TM7 is really only effective on the strip, not really designed for street/cruiser.  There was another thread that suggested a Holley Street Dominator intake.  Would that work well for my motor? It has a 670cfm holley street avenger on it and a stock cam.  Lemme know, now is the time I can change with relative ease! :working:

you really cant go wrong with the eddy performer RPM. The street dominator is very similar. Either one would work

The only one summit lists for a 440 holley street dominator has an EGR, I don't want an EGR.  do they make them without them that I'm just not seeing?  Or is there someway that having the EGR doesn't matter or what? :dunno:

all Street Dom intakes have EGR provision , I have never used the EGR ports , they are easily blocked with no bad effect ,, the Street dom is a great intake part # 300-14 for 440
my questionis the 670 CM carb , far too small for a 440 unless you are under 4000 rpm all the time

Probably but the 440 also came with 3- 2bbls & close to 1000 CFM & they run better that way

What do I have to do to block off the EGR on the street dominator?

Center carb is 350 cfm and the outboards are 500 cfm's each...= 1350 cfm

Thats why we get the trademark ' bog ' when we open those outboards...

But THEN...

well that is sort of correct Except that 2 bbls carbs are flow rated at 3" of vacuum & 4 bbls are rated at 1.5" of vacuum so the actual flow cannot be directly compared & if they are tuned correctly there is no bog just tire smoke  :burnout:

I just completly rebuilt my 6 pack carbs, and so far I have no bogs at all and the throttle response is right there when I need it :clueless: I built them back stock specs and must of did them right.

I am either lucky, or I have built a few holleys and 6pks before :roflsmiley:

But seriously, when set up right, they work like they were intended to. Take no short cuts and know how to tune an engine, not just carbs :2thumbs:
