Pushrod Wear ???
« on: March 18, 2007 - 09:04:25 PM »
can anyone explain why the marks are on my pushrods that I removed ???
The worst one on the right has a slight groove gut into it ??? were they hitting the head ???
I was using 1.6 rockers but have since changed to 1.7 Full roller rockers and shorter pushrods ....

there are 2 ways to correct this , 1 when I port heads I always grind extra clearance beside the port for pushrod clearance , second you can use shims to move the rocker over slightly to keep the pushrods from rubbing the head

Thx Chyrco....since I have a bunch of shims I think I'll go that route ...  :burnout: I wonder if this is what was causing the mysterious tapping noise I was hearing in the motor ???

You can also verify the geometry is right. It's much more critical on the higher than stock ratio rockers. I have the pushrod holes enlarged too..lol.
