Freeze Plug Removal - The Easy Way!!!
« on: April 01, 2007 - 08:32:38 PM »
Well I have the hardest ones to remove from behind the head up against the firewall...so heres what I did ... got out my trusty dremel with the extension and cutoff wheel and reached behind there and looked into a mirror and just cut straight through the plug and popped it out with a small pic..... was entirely to easy... the cutoff wheel is the perfect diameter for cutting out those small plugs.... I would reccomend this way for even the ones on the block.... to easy with a dremel....

Nice job. Getting the old ones out is easy.

DO NOT USE RUBBER!!

those are for emergencies, and they tend to pop themselves out during high pressure situations..Like racing, or reving the poor new engine to 6K in park...

You need to pull the heads to get the new ones in.

you're starting to scare me.. :scared:

Glad to hear you got them out. So what did the inside of the plugs look like? If you clean the heads and take your time you could probably get it done. (no rubber, that's only a temporary repair).  The most that could happen is you'll get a sore neck installing them. Big mirror and big light, oh and alot of patience.........
