Has anyone tried Tri-Y headers, like those available from Schumacher?  They seem to use stock exhaust pipes.

No head pipe is available to connect up to bolt on exhaust that you can order. You have to fab up that piece. 500 bucks then add on Jet hot or some type of ceramic coating, then they are more $ then the TTI's.

If you have long tube headers, they are going to scrape the ground at some point, especially if you have a lowered your car.  If it's at stock ride height, you might scrape on a giant speedbump, but that's about it.  I have a set of TTI's on my big block in my Challenger.  They hang low, but guess what?  I could care less. You just have to drive like you have some sense, and avoid speedbumps, which isn't that hard. BTW, my car is in the weeds too.....

Congrats on your purchase! (to the oringal poster)  They should bring many good years of service....  Just make sure to keep'em clean and somewhat dry....I'm not a huge fan of Jet Hot, seeing as how every set of headers that I have ever had coated, rusted. :walkaway:

Tubbed440, It looks like your headers hang lower than the Alter-k-tion. My bellhousing is the lowest point of the car. Alter-k and Kiesler TKO w/ a scattershield.
My question is do you have a ton of room now that the torsion bars are gone.? I was thinking about building some and cutting notches in the tranny crossmember frame to get the exhaust tucked up higher. Did you investigate that notion?
I have the TTi's figured into my budget if all else fails.

Well, in that picture, there is no trans mount, and the tranny is sitting directly on the crossmember.  I would imagine that the rear of the header collector would be "up" in the car a little further if it were installed.

Lots more room now that the torsion bars and steering box are gone.  I have thought about recessing the exhaust into the floor board, but I have spintech mufflers with oval inlet and outlets.....the mufflers are like 1.75 -2 inches thick, so I'm not too worried about ground clearance with the oval pipe and low profile mufflers.  I'll post up more pics when I get the car closer to completion with the mufflers and pipe installed at ride height.

Thanks Tubbed, I will be a little higher than yours. On Matt Delaney's 'cuda the bell housing from Kiesler was the lowest part of the car. I don't know how his exhaust was or if he had TTi's. I may have no problems with TTI's scraping. I had a Duster that had super low hanging Hookers and I learnded fast how to drive accordingly. Like you said, you have to drive with some sense. I really don't want to get into fabrication to the crossmember and my time IS worth money so it looks like TTI's for me.

Just my  :2cents: But I have had many differant headers on my cars and I like every thing low. Hookers, heddman, somthing cheep I cant remember and TTI's and they are all lower then stock manifolds by there nature. The TTI's have the best ground clearance of any that I have seen ( mostly small block ). They also have nice thick flanges and fit very well (you can still get the starter out!) I will be using them again on my Cuda build with a 6.1 Hemi I'll let you know how low they hang because that car will be in the weeds

The new TTIs look great IMNCARN82 .  I love the ones on my 340.  When I bought the car it had a set of Hookers, which used to scrape on speedbumps and dips in the road.  I haven't had any problems with my TTIs as of yet and I have gone over speedbumps with the car.

I agree that compared to full length headers, the Schumachers look like they would be quite restrictive... there is an article on their website telling what power is lost to a conventional full-length header and it seemed moderately inperceptible.  I want to give the Schumachers a try because of their clearance and because I can't imagine they would give up anything compared to the stock HP manifolds.  TTIs cost an awful lot and I know everyone says they install pretty well, but I don't think i could deal with the low-hanging pipes and just the fact that you have to keep everything away from the exhaust.  I had traction bars on my car for the longest time and I got used to goin over speed bumps slow and it was kind of annoying (but even when they scraped i still kinda laughed  ;D).  To each his own, i suppose.

It looks like Hedman offers shorty headers also.
