How much is a Hemi 18 spline A833 worth to swap for a 5spd

I've got a Hemi A833 18 spline that someone wants to buy. This came out of a 74 challenger with a 440. The main case numbers are H4 C99129 PP8332615  0156   XS29L9R161774  Tail number C99539  Cover number C95664Z Front Bearing retainer C97621 Its in great shape but I don't know what is worth. Was thinking about selling it and putting in a tremec 5 spd. Maybe I should keep it and put in a GV overdrive unit, but not sure that is the way to go either.  Thanks in advance  :working: Don

Some here said like 2k last week, but it could be hard selling at that price. 1k -1200 seems reasonable. I'll give ya 600 now

Not sure what happened to the other replies. They dissappeared. Sorry not enough. I'm probably just going to put it back in the challenger. I wanted to put in a 5 spd with over drive, but the cost is to high. They want 4200 for a complete setup. 2k and I would sell it. 1500 maybe but probably not enough.... :money:

As a guage here is a rebuilt one on Ebay for $1500, I think there are a few on there between $1000-$1500 in various conditions

If you do go aftermarket ODs, don't get a Gear Vendors. I haven't driven one in a manual but if the auto is anything to go by the lag/searching/honing between in/out of OD is ridiculous. Splitting gears is just a rumor and will be the same in the manual as auto - pointless. It would be very hard to drive a manual car with the OD, trust me. Basically impossible. Autos are hard enough and even then they're not perfect shifts, not what you think you're getting anyway. I was expecting seamless NHRA style shifts, nope. So, you'd be paying $2,200 for one extra gear (OD) if you get a GV. That's a lot of fluff for one gear.

Keisler are expensive but most top of the industry products are, like tti etc  :2cents: I'd either keep it or get what you can for it and save for a Keisler. Didn't Mopar make a A833 OD?  I'm sure they did.............

Yes they did make an overdrive. Not has strong has a 18 spline Hemi 4spd from what I understand. Still waiting on my Mcleod clutch. Been on back order for over a month. Keisler only offers a 23 spline no 18 spline input shafts. Probably going to stick with the Hemi 4 spd for now. 4200.00 is a bunch of money for 1 overdrive gear. :money:
