One more question for now - what is the best way to repair the gauge lenses. Whoever had the car before me did a spray job on the steering column, and overspray got onto the lenses. I want to clean it up and get it off.. what's the best thing? Nuvo Shine, or flitz?

I haven't used either one of those personally, but I have had good luck with Meguiars, they make a plastic cleaner and polish I've used to take paint off lenses before.

I have used Nuvo shine and the stuff is the sh*#. Requires alot of elbow grease to go through all the recommended steps but it is well worth the effort. The finish comes out with that nice factory gloss, fantastic.

I don't mind the elbow grease, it's just the lenses don't really neet that much attention, there's just a little paint on them. I'll give the meguiars a shot. It doesn't cloud the lense, right?

On the meguiars stuff, not at all. Oh yeah, another brand would be Novus that they sell at most plastic supply places. Use it all the time restoring pinball machines, they have tons of clear plastic parts.

The Meguiars stuff is awesome. WOW. I used it with one of those applicator pads.. took the paint right off.. cleaned the scuff marks up... I would definitely recommend it.
