Finally a little time to myself...tire question?
« on: March 26, 2007 - 06:32:12 PM »
The white and brown and yellow trucks were very busy keeping my dirt road dusty last week. After a very hectic week all the way through today, I got to open the ups/fedex/DHL boxes.

My 6pk breather assembly was in one, my 4 spd carpet was another, my legendary seat covers was yet another, then :wow: My Ralley wheel packages came in. In 6 boxes. 15x7s x4,  4 trim rings, 4 light argent center caps, the screws for them, the left and rt hand lugs and valve stems.

I wanna go with T/A radials, so what tires will work on the front 15x7's ? I had 225x70x15's on my challenger, but they were just too big for me. I don't want them that wide and maybe an inch shorter. The back I could use some suggestions for the 15x7 too. I had 15x8's and 275 60's on them but they are too wide for 7" rims.
I just want a clean look.. And want to get them tomorrow, if I can...Any suggestions....ALAN

When I run the radials I have 235X60X15s on the front and 275X60X15s on the rear. They fill the wheel wells up great.

:iagree:  i believe that was the tire sizes prior to changing to the aftermarket wheels, and they looked great - filled out the wheel wells just fine  :2thumbs:

I know the challenger has more wheel well room then the barracuda. So is a 235 60 15  a shorter tire?  I am going to look today.  thanks for the replies...ALAN

225/70r-15 is about 27.4" tall

235/60r-15 is about 26.1" tall.  It's a little wider I think being a 60 series tire.

I used this tire calculator: http://www.onlineconversion.com/tire_size_conversion.htm

Well, I just got back from buying 275x60x15 t/a radials for the back  110 each and have 235x60x15 t/a radials coming in tomorrow. A lot of t/a radials are on national back order. They had 2 275's left. I started to buy them too, but I had to buy and mount 4 new tires on the truck today too. I went and dropped off my rear seat and legendary cover at the upholstery shop also. Tomorrow I take him in the front buckets and foam and covers. 200 bucks to install all the upholstery. I thought that was a very good deal. He is even painting the springs with semi gloss black interior paint.

Now, bumpers, chrome tips, front windshield and a black dash pad, and I will begin to enjoy my car and start some small cruising.  It has came a long ways from a hull to now.

295/50x15 rear and 235/60x15 front.

Next project is fitting either Goodyear or Hoosier 26.5x12x15 on 10" rims rear and 26.1x10x15 on 8" rims on the front.

Well, I couldnt resist, so I mounted the 275x60's by hand on my new rims and put them on the back of the barracuda. They fit really good. I will mount the fronts tomorrow when I get the tires in the morning. But I am thinking I like what I see.

Are those on a 7" rim?  I am just curious if the tread area of the tire looks bowed out.  The BFG web site says that that tire should fit at a minimum a 7 1/2" rim.
