New e-mail scam..
« on: April 24, 2007 - 09:07:21 PM »
Got one tonite I've never encountered before. And I've seen alot! You get an email from the IRS saying that they "recalculate" and you overpaid. Of course they want to wire the "funds" to your bank. Just follow the link and fill in your bank info. Ya ....  :screwy: After that I'm trading NIKKI for a 78 Pinto!

Is anyone really that stupid?  I, on the other hand, am patiently waiting for about $20 mil from the former president of Nigeria.

Dude, what are you dumb?  The only reason I got my 'Cuda was 'cause of all the money Bill Gates gave me a few years ago.  Sheesh - I can't believe you're calling that stuff a scam...  I can't wait to see how much I overpaid!!

Obviously I'm kidding.  :)

But that's how I got MY Cuda. I got an e-mail informing me that they had an overpopulation  of Cudas in Nigeria and would I please consider adopting one for only pennies per day. I jumped right on it.  :grinyes:

Unfortunately there are poeple that are that "slow".  :clueless: Some of them are our senior citizens who grew up in a time when they could trust someones word. I read some time ago of a senior from the northern part of the US that drove all they way to Florida thinking he had won a sweepstake for a substantial amount of money only to find out that he was just a "Finalist". There wasn't any award for him. laws are being changed to make these misleading type ads more clear, but folks continue to get taken by misleading ads and scams like the one listed. I feel sorry for the folks that don't have the forethought to figure out that somebody is trying to "take" them. The scammers need to be taken to the wood shed for (as Roy D. Mercer put it..) a good country A_ _ whupping!! :smilielol:

Unfortunatly it isn't just seniors. We had a 30 something gal in my area who recently fell for a mystery shopper scam. They send you a bogus check, you deposit it and then go spend a percentage of it shopping. Once you done, you wire the balance remaining along with your shopping report back to them. They provide all the forms, reference letters, etc.

So long as they can snag a person once ina while for a few grand, they will keep on trying.
