GM offered 5 billion and that was turned down, considering that Daimler payed what something like 38 billion for it in the 90's. I doubt that Chrysler is going anywhere anytime soon. No one wants to pay for the company.

Comes under the heading of "Cutting your losses". Even giving something away is a good deal if it is costing you tons of money to keep it. BTW, anybody want a wife and kids? Just kidding.

It all has to do with whom is making the decisions. Prior those in control obviously didn't care to do business with him, now D/C is just looking for money and to get out of the mess they created through stupidity.    I beleive this man can make the decisions to turn things around, but it will take some time, he tends to be rather conservitive.
