300 Mile Trip ahead
« on: March 27, 2010 - 09:10:25 PM »
Im taking my car Down to school with me tomorrow. Its a 300 Trip from Buffalo NY to the Pittsburgh area and my third gear has been starting to slip. I have taken it easy on the trans since this has started to happen but it always worries me that little bit. I would just like some other opinions on if you guys think she will make it or not. The Trans is getting pulled as soon as I get down there and Is being rebuilt.

I dropped my trans pan a few hours before I left and took a look at the fluid. There was a lot of fine darker silver material (result of clutch pack?) with a couple small metallic flakes. :( I replaced the filter and all fluid besides what was in the tq converter. I ended up making the trip later that day and didn't have any problems with the trans although the car seemed to be having an electrical fit. Within the next week or two Im going to drop it and tear into it. Anyone want to tell me how cooked this thing is?

Is it an auto trans without a manual valve body? If so, rig the throttle trans rod to give it more pressure to help stop the slippage. Like set it up so at half throttle the trans thinks its at W.O.T.

Now you won't be able to give it more than 50% of the throttle but should be enough to keep up with traffic on the freeway..any freeway, most likely.
