Finally
« on: April 21, 2007 - 05:11:51 PM »
Well, after three long years of searching for the right car in the right condition, I've finally bought and brought home my first mopar muscle car, a 1974 Dodge Charger, paid 800 for it, it runs and drives really good, the motor doesn't smoke and starts first try. As you can tell, the rear part of the body needs work, the front sat under a lean-to while the back end was left out to face the indiana weather for 15 years, however the only parts that need replaced is the drivers side rear quarter and the deck lid.  The front end and floor boards as well as the trunk floor are all solid with nothing but surface cancer, no holes.  Thanks for the advice in buying this car, guys.
More pics to come.

800 bucks for a running Charger ain't a bad deal no matter how ya look at it!  It's worth more than that in metal alone!

Nice fine - good luck with 'er!  Any idea on what color scheme you'll go with?

My girlfriend says I have to paint it sublime green cause she wants it to stand out but I don't know yet.  I don't think that it will be painted year correct either way, I don't like many of the colors offered in 74.

Heck yeah!  Get some Keystones for the rear, paint it black, and that thing would be sick!   :cooldancing:

Great find!!  :2thumbs:
Can't go wrong with that.  I had a friend that just bought a 1971 Oldsmobile that sat for 15 years in a barn (never started during that time frame). He set the timing, cleaned the carb & it started right up!! He paid $800.00 bucks and sold it a few months later for $2700.00!! Those gems are still out there!! Keep us posted on the project and post lots of pictures!! What's under the hood in that thing?? 318, 360??

Congratulations on your " new " car. Lot of people don't think too highly those 3rd generation Chargers , but they are pretty neat-looking cars. And
sublime would be a great color choice!
