Can the corrugated section of the steering column be removed?
« on: April 27, 2007 - 10:05:20 PM »
I'm talking about the part behind the steering wheel, that looks like it is corrugated, or like an accordian. I've seen it referred to as a "steering extension" and I was wondering if it can be removed.
                                                                                         :clueless:
The reason that I ask, is that my project 73 Cuda does not have one. The wheel is very close to the dash, and this peice is not there. At first I thought that maybe there is a different steering column in it, but I don't know what else will fit. Looks like it was made for someone with really long arms, or a gorilla. I will post  pics within the next couple of days when I can get up to the garage.

Also, does anyone know if a steering column from a 73 automatic will work in a 73 4-speed? I believe both are power steering.

You're referring to the crush can and it can definitely be removed.

The column will swap as long as both are power steering ,
