mounting a coil ???
« on: April 15, 2007 - 12:16:10 PM »
After installing a Demon carb on my 440 I ran into a problem. The fuel line runs right on the mounting holes on the intake for the coil. and theres no other place to mount it on the engine. It looks like the only option I have is the fender well but it's a 71 Cuda and I don't want to put any holes there. any options? or does any one have any pics of where the mount there coil with this kind of problem?  :clueless:

My coil is mounted on my fender well.  ::) It wasn't my idea, but the previous owner/idiot's. You will probably have to lengthen some wires to pull this off, I'd imagine. You also need a longer spark plug wire to reach from the coil to the distributor, if you go this route. I really don't have any other suggestions, but if you wants pics, i can take some for you.

I believe it is in summits catalog but I have seen a coil relo bracket that bolts to where your coil would go and moves the coil out for clearance!

the 6 pack bracket mounts the coil along the valve cover towards the right rear of the engine & is a great alternative

I like that idea  :2thumbs:  but for $22  :screwy:  You should be able to make a couple of them for that price.   :2thumbs:

You got that right! I bought the one I have off a guy on eBay for 14 bucks :P I dont care much for the finish on it, so Im going to sand it down and polish it out. I already did it to my Mancini throttle cable bracket and it looks 10 times better.

I am assuming (especially since it's mancini selling it) that it would work on any intake.  Looks like it provides a lot of clearance for the intake runners.
