So, while I debate what to do with the 70 cuda that's rusting to bits on my sister's farm, I'm continuing to work on the 62 t-bird I bought to "learn the ropes".
here's some pics of my very first ever attempt at a quarter panel replacment.

Looks to me like you are ready to forget the Bird and go for the Cuda.

Hey Rob, that Minn. rust is killer huh.  I was up there in the late 80's and seen 3-4 year cars almost on the ground from rust.  I think you should consider importing your cars from say Phoenix or some place nice & dry!

Good luck bud, looks like you got your hands full!

Nice job on the rear quarter!  Looks like it's going to be lots of fun to learn.

Your T-Bird reminds me of a couple I saw here (Mass.) that were in far worse shape, sitting in someones driveway.  You could literally see the piles of rust scale formed under the car from where it dropped off.  Just barely could see it as it looked like a low rider from the flat tires and the springs must've gone through the trunk pan.  Must've been only 2 inches off the driveway.

My guess would be that the springs actually went through the passenger compartment on the front part of the spring.  mine was very close to doing that on the left side.  this car was EXTREMELY rusty, but it was straight, so I thought I'd give it a shot.  I've got lots of repairs to the frame rails done and had to fab up a new mount for the back and front part of the rear leaf spring.  I'm really hoping I got those measurements right, or the car won't go straight!

Ha!  If the measurements are real off it'll look like a drift car on turns!  :smilielol:  The first vintage T-Bird drift car!
