Detroit VS Imports - Well Not Really?
« on: May 06, 2007 - 02:33:59 PM »
Well it is obvious that some of those Ricers do fly.....most of them are flybys but some of them can lay down some low et's!!!!
They are here to stay and if you really think about it there really is nothing wrong with the kids wanting to go fast! we are all equal on that level! especially with the price of Muscle Cars today... Why not buy a new car and make a $250 a month payment and throw some bolt on's in it!
And we've all heard them say "it's only a 2.0 litre" what I say to them is take off that turbo and we'll see how fast it is! Can you say High 17's.... lol
With half a million civic's out there how much is your car ever gonna be worth! It aint worth sh!t ... Ahhh! $3200     :bricks1:
The Ricers Handle better! Ok yea todays suspensions are better but have you ever seen a street race going around turns and through pylons to get to the finish line??? but you can if you choose to buy a lot of different suspension kits for Muscle out there today!
They brag about there 1/4 mile et's! well when you consider it is really a different class like naturally aspirated vs. power adder! hmmmm... Running a 10.7 in the NA Big block class last year would have won you Drag Week 2006! your 11.80 civic is only about 3+ full seconds from competing in the power added small block class....  :bricks1:
Hemi Cuda's etc... originally sold for $4500 appx. and could lay down at 13 sec. ET ... You paid $20,000 for that turbo civic to run a high 13  :bricks1:
My car gets 20 miles to the gallon! It's not my fault you can't afford to pay for gas making $6hr at mcdonalds  :bricks1:

With companies out there that sell ProChargers etc.. I've seen Dyno results in excess of 1200HP on a stock bore big block!
If you choose to go that route?

It is not Detroit VS Imports the imports themself have nothing to do with Horsepower ... it is Detroit VS Turbos, Superchargers etc... or really it's Detroit VS Technology!

And we all know when you pull into a car show and everyone stares at your old muscle car you get all the compliments regardless of ET! How many times have you been to a car show and a ricer comes rolling in with the bass up / big spoiler, loud a$$ fart can and you hear "other people" say what the f@#k is that  :bricks1: I have heard that the Ricers favorite movie is
Lawnmower Man!  :roflsmiley:

Ok lets have a Detroit Vs Import contest!

Factory Cost
Factory Cost vs. ET Reached
Value of your car in 10 years
RESPECT
ET index / Power adder VS Naturally Aspirated
Gas Mileage (ok well give this one to the ricers)
More desired exhaust tone
Coolness
How many thumbs up do you get cruisin in your car
Better overall handling (ok! they win again)
Which burnout looks cooler
Which burnout sounds cooler
Faster looking than it really is (ok! they win hands down on that one)
With the hoods popped which looks better

I THINK WE HAVE A WINNER BY KNOCKOUT!

Sounds like a reasonable comparison to me.   :2thumbs:
