What's the flywheel tooth setup on a 340 73 Challenger?

 143 was used up to 1970 behind big blocks

Crap.  Here's my problem.  I bought a 6 speed Richmond transmission.  I also got an E-body crossmember and driveshaft.  My clutch is a 23 spline 1 inch, the tranny is 1 3/16 18 spline.  So I have to get a new clutch setup, no problem.  However, in order to get a clutch that can accept a 1 3/16 18 spline input shaft I need a new flywheel that can accept an 11 inch clutch.  I have a 340 and there weren't very many choices to select from.  The only one Summit had was a 143 tooth.  This was the only one that would fit my engine.  Will I also have to get a new starter in order to accept the different tooth pattern?

All you need is a is the 11" clutch disc with the correct spline  , the 130 tooth flywheel & the 10.95" pressure plate bolts right together , I use the McLeod Borg & Beck /Long style pressure plate all the time 
 to use the 143 tooth flywheel you do not need a different starter , you need a totally different belhousing , I am not aware of a 143 tooth bel for a small block

Interesting.  I called the tech support line at Summit and this was the clutch setup they told me I should use

If I don't need that flywheel then its alot cheaper.  This conversion went from being pretty simple bolt on to an almost nightmarish situation.  New clutch wasn't going to be a problem, it was trying to find a flywheel that would also fit on my 340.  Add to this the "bubba" factor of when we dropped the old transmission I saw that the tranny hump was mutilated and the new metal that was put on consisted of old license plates.  Top it off, the shift linkages were tightly shoved between the new metal and the old crossmember.  What burns me is the guy I bought it from told me it was an original 4 speed not a conversion.  Not that I would have minded a conversion, but at least don't lie and do it right.

 anyway you need a 130 tooth flywheel , a 10.95" clutch & I personally would not use the one they suggest

Chryco, thanks for the tips, I'll see if I can cancel the original order and get the McLeod clutch setup.  But it looks like the link was double posted.  Its the same link to the clutch.  Once I get the pressure plate info I can place the order.  BTW, do you recommend any throwout bearings to go with the McLeod setup?

you are right , the link is the same # weird , I was looking at a 11" Kevlar disc & a 10.95" PP  but it came up with the same link

Holy Crap Chryco !!    Thats a man's clutch.  Not a little sissy clutch like my old man's 57 Fairlane.  It takes a firm push on the clutch pedal to engage it.  I like it.  The Richmond also feels like a beast, though it shifts nice and easy, its still has a bit of a growl to it.  Thanks for the advice.  If you are ever in the Austin area, I owe you a beer.
