AAR hood. Pins required?
« on: May 29, 2007 - 10:11:44 AM »
Are the hood pins on the AAR style hoods required to keep it down, or is the standard hood latch sufficient?

Just wondering.

I believe the originals didn't connect to the hinges, or have a latch. They were just kept in place by the hood pins in various locations. Basically, you could lift them off. The after-market ones did make provisions for a latch and springs.

AAR hoods used hood pins on the front and hinges at the rear. The AARs and T/A hoods did not have hood latches or any place to mount them.

So, basically to get a shaved look (with no pins) you'd have to retrofit a front latch?

I know there's a company that makes a full-frame AAR hood. I wonder if those would work.  :dunno:
