April, I'm so sorry you're hurting like this.  All my brothers and sisters have had them... and have been in such horrible pain.  I hope to never find out.  Let us know how you're doing...you're in my prayers.

Sorry to hear the word "stones". I have never had Kidney stones. Or at least not ones that did not pass easy. But how about Gallstones. Or I should say stone, I had a searing pain wake me in the middle of the night about 4-5 years ago. The doctor said I would have to have my gallbladder removed. I went to the surgeon and he said I also had a hernia and would fix that too. It was some of the most pain I have ever been in. And you can't pass a gallstone. When it was over the surgeon said, "You didn't have gallstones. You had one big gallstone that filled the gallbladder".

After some time now, I do feel much, much better. And now I can even do sit ups again. Hope you get well soon.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and stories.  I am feeling much better now, but have to go for a CT scan on Wednesday to be sure they are all gone.  I sure hope so because I don't ever want to go through that again, EVER!  It is amazing how sore you get afterwards.  I feel like someone beat me with a lead pipe on my side and back, where your kidneys are.  I am just trying to suck it up as much as possible because work is so darn busy and I cannot be away for even a day right now due to the holiday.

You guys are great!

YES, i have had them april. they SUCK to say the least. had them 3 years ago and passed one that was about 3X5 millimeters. that was bad. in the other kidney i had one that was 9X12 millimeters. that one had to be blown up with sound waves. then in august of 2006 i had another bout with them. i passed one that was 5X7 millimeters and have another one that was about the size of a robins egg. which is over an inch long and 3/4 of an inch wide. the doc said that it needed to be blown up again. so i went thru that again and the next time i went in the stone didnt change in size or shape. he told me that somtimes it stays together for a while then falls apart as it had been fractured but just didnt fall apart. i went in again after another 2 weeks and same thing. he said to come back again in 6 weeks and still the same thing. he wanted me to go back again after another 2 weeks and if it hadnt fallen apart again that we would have to go thru the lithotripsy again (the sound waves). i didnt go back again yet but im sure the stone is still there. i havent gone back again because i havent had any trouble with it and i am trying some home remedys that i have found online. if it works ill let y'all know. hope all is well for you April. get well soon.

MBH, that stinks that you have had so many stone issues.  Is it OK to keep it in there for long periods of time?  I would be afraid that if you leave it there something could happen, no?  I passed another one today, and am hoping it is the last one.  I have a CT scan tomorrow, so hopefully I'll know more.  I think I am going to have nightmares about cute little robin eggs tonight  :faint:

yes April it is bad to leave them there for long periods of time. they just keep growing. if they grow too big they can hurt your kidney. what im doing is trying some home remedys to dissolve them. maybe they will work maybe they wont.if a stone gets too big it can not only damage the kidney but it can make you go septic, which means you get realllly sick because your body isnt getting out the urine. ill go back in to get checked out soon and see if its working. if not ill have to go through another bout of lithotripsy, which i dont want to do again.hope all goes well for you tomorrow.
