I ran across a chart that listed two different casting numbers for 360 engines. 1971 - 1974 were supposed to have the number 3418496-360 and 1975 and after (not sure about the new 360 used in Dodge trucks) were to have number 3870230. Well,--------- I have a 360 that came out of a Super Coupe, some have called it a magnum, some call it a pursuit engine, also used in law enforcement vechicles. Anyway, it has a casting # of 4006830-360 which does not match either of the above. Can someone explain this or is it just because it is not a standard stock 360 motor? It also has on the other side of the block has the apparent date of the casting: 2 - 1 - 78 , which definately puts it in the only year that the Super Coupe I believe was made.
Anyone got an answer to this, not necessarily important, just curious.
