440 hp rateings

 :wave: I have purchased a 440 that been rebuilt by a reman shop any ideas on horse power and torque numbers The block reads 4006630-440-2 i am trying to establish a base line to work from thanks  :clueless:

By the casting numbers, looks like the engine is a 1975 - 1978 model.  I would guess around 400+ HP.....that all depends on what the shop did to it and if they did it right.

If ya don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

It's really all guess work here. Without knowing what cam is in there, and what heads, and what compression ratio... it could be anywhere from 275, to 400+ horses.

 :clueless: sorry i should have given more info, the heads are 906, compression i was told was 8.5, stock cam but for what i do not know. it will be a driver for the summer then i will pull it for the winter and take the top end off and purchase a cam set . only mods are a performer intake headers and a 800 edelbroc thunder ser carb. Thanks

I do not know about low comp 440's but all the low comp 400's I ever had were dogs and actually had less than 8:1 compression. The one I had in my Challenger was 7.6:1  with the .040 felpro head gasket  :puke:
