A/C clutch not engaging
« on: May 31, 2007 - 08:04:48 PM »
The clutch isnt engaging on my A/C.  There is juice to the canister thingy on the right inner fender.  What is that thing?  I've been told it may be a pressure switch?  Im guessing there is no refrigerant left.  I dont want that gawdy newer compressor, so I'm going to go with a restoration, probably this winter.  Im just wondering what is wrong with that switch-thingy, and why it isnt engaging.  Thanks!

That's your reciever dryer and a presure switch. No pressure the switch will not activate your compressor

could be a blocked or bad expansion valve also. If the clutch does not engage when you bypass the switch then its either out of gas or has trash in the system imo.
