Pushrod length
« on: June 03, 2007 - 06:32:16 AM »
I am switching from a hydrolic to a solid cam with adjustable rockers and have found my pushrod length to be too short.Measuring the difference I need a set .150 inch longer to put me in the middle of the adjustment but the only ones Comp lists are only .130 longer. Will these work or do I need a custom length? My current ones measure 7.367 and the others are listed at 7.497 # 7822-16.

Get a custom made set of pushrods made , you want to have 2 threads on the adjuster showing under the rocker arm Max
Smith Bros & others can get you a set quickly

I go with no more than 4 threads showing on the adjuster. So I generally set my checkers to the two threads that CP suggests, and then see what the books have for premade sets that are within .020" of it. If you can't find any, go the custom length route. I dont like to make my own. I like to have sets complete...lol. also, dont forget you should be runnign the engine thru a lift cycle and cehcking the sweep on the valve tips with checking springs in place. If the sweep isnt good, adjust/correct the issue, then run it again. If it's good, then you have your pushrod length. Dont just tighten the shafts, then stick in the checker.
