Should I use Slider or Pin style calipers?
«

In the process of gathering parts for the factory 11.75" disc brake conversion on my Challenger.
Mopar Action's article says the Pin style is better,
BigBlockDart tech article says the sliders are better,
Neither really gives any reasons.
What should I use and why?
Thanks

I prefer pin over sliders, however sliders are way easier to find than 11.75 pin adapters.

Thx

I can use everything from the correct year, hoses, calipers etc, do not have to worry abut remembering that the hose I need is from a 78 F body, the calipers are from a 75 A body etc.

I've had sliders on my car for a number of years now, no problems. There are good pads made for both.....

I had the slider ones with 11 inch disc's. I then upgraded to the pin ones when I did the 11.75 conversion like your doing. I like the pin ones better. The brakes wear evenly with the pin and the sliders tend to favor one side for brake wear. My car was orignally all drum and a convertible. It originally tended to slide alot during emergency braking. The Brake master set up I went to next helped significantly improve on that problem but the stopping ability wasn't as satisfying as I would like. Moving up to the 11.75 disc and adding the slider brakes was a step up in braking performance which I really liked. I'm very paranoid about brakes in cars since my dad owned english cars that constantly had brakes going out in them. So I am a little phobic about how solid my brakes are. Both systems do what you want them to do but I just feel the pins are a slightly better system. That is just based strictly subjective opinion with a little parania thrown in. Hope that helps.
