Headlight mount ring
« on: June 06, 2007 - 08:12:09 AM »
I am missing one headlight mount. My actual headlight has the piece that it clamps into, but I need the larger round ring that bolts to the radiator support that the light assembly clamps into. MY QUESTION:  is this piece common to most all late 60's mid 70's Chryslers?

No, I think I have that, the light is mounted in it now, but the is another RING that the 'cup & light" mount in and it has 4 or 5 bolt holes to attach to the radiator support. I am not describing the chrome ring around the head light.

Can you post a picture? I'm clueless, but maybe this is a Cuda only part.  :clueless:

This stuff came with the car and may not be correct, but will it work? THe lights/buckets seem OK, and that RING appears to be workable, I just need another one. Comments?

I sent the pic to MEK cause I didnt know how to post one. How about some pointers?

Very possible, why? This car has glass fenders. I will have to fit the grill and make sure they are in the correct position before I drill any holes, and of course find another mounting ring similar to what I show in the pic. Maybe I can see the marks where the originals were welded on and go from there.....

I believe the single bolt on headlight supports are '72 to '74 Barracuda only.  The welded on ones are a 1970 thing and the headlights are further apart so you wouldn't want to try to copy those.
Since you are going custom, why not use some from a Dart or Scamp ? They are not the same but you could do a little cutting here and there to make them work with your fiberglass fenders...  :dunno:

Great! Now I feel better, at least half better. I do need one ring and considered other Mopars but the right one would make life easier, especially since the fenders dont have any holes drilled showing where the bracket should be.

A test fit last night reveals that I will have to mount the grill first to ensure proper headlight placement and that the ring I already have will probably have to be alter to fit inside the glass fenders. I saw another ring on a '69 Dart that looked like it would work- the same height projection. They are welded on but should not be too much trouble to get off. Anyone have something? I basically need a ring that has the headlight adjusters and technically I need one for the passenger side, althought that will probably not be an issue as I may have to turn the rings around for fitment and the adjusters may not be in the normal positions anyway.
