A few questions

1) When did Mopar stop useing left handed lug nuts?

2) Would it hurt the value of my car to change these out to right hand?

3) How many still have left handed lug nuts on their car?

70 Cuda 383 matching numbers, FC7......

Dunno why they stopped using them... but I'm glad... they're a pain in the ass... ::) I've still got them on... well, more on my rear axel and hub for the front... can't quite say they're ON my 'Cuda.. lol.. but I've got them... going to all correct lugs when it comes time...

  It's kind of a pain, isn't it? Don't know the reasoning behind the left turn lug nuts, but I think I read somewhere that 1970 was the last year for them. I can't believe it would take any value away from your car if you changed to all "right" lugs, but that's just me. Maybe some die hard purist would argue otherwise.

One of the biggest things is that if someone like Discount Tire is working on your car, with left handed lug, you better watch them and tell the about it, or.....................

I have a really embarassing story about how I realized they were left handed threads, i wont tell but you can imagine.

my rear wheels still have left threads on them, i changed my fronts though,, and probably no one would ever know.
70 cuda, 440, KB pistons, 10.5:1 compression, edlebrock heads,RacerBrown cam, 5-Speed Tremec, Megasquirt EFI

I dont know if this is correct or not, but some one told me back when I was a kid ( many years ago!!) that the left side wheels had left hand threads because the turning of the wheels tend to naturally tighten or loosen the wheels according to direction.  Personally, I seriously doubt that would happen, but some one thought that any way.   Both GM and Chrysler used this arrangement for many years.  My first encounter w/ this was on a '49 Pontiac, and I broke three studs before I figured out what was going on.  Last time I had that problem.  (that was about 1957)  I attribute the idea for left hand lug nuts to the same kind of genius that brought us side post batteries, & batteries down inside fenders.      Ovmf

Mopar xtopped using left hand thread on the left side at the end of the 70 model year , I would change them to right hand , my Chall still has left for now

ford festiva(spelling) upper 80-90's the rear spindal has left threads......


i got a story on that one...some shops don't listen

I replaced them with right hand threads on both of my 70 Cudas. They're just a pain in the a$$!
