Anybody straighten a fan shroud?
« on: June 17, 2007 - 02:54:41 PM »
Just bought and installed a used 22 inch shroud and brackets.  It fits okay except that it is warped and there is a 3/4" gap at the top in the middle.  Any way of straightening this?  Also, the fan is close to the top and there is lots of room down below the fan.  It looks like the tail of the motor would have to come up to correct some of this except I'm worried about the drive shaft angle getting reduced.  I also installed a used stock 7 blade flex 18" fan instead of the 5 blade flex fan I had.  Its raining so I only warmed it up in the garage but it runs noticeably cooler.

It might fix that gap right up.  As for the warping you might have to apply some heat
