Non-Mopar trans question for a friend
« on: June 13, 2007 - 11:14:26 AM »
I've got a friend with a 96 Explorer.  Sometimes (but not all the time) he gets s small shudder during the 1-2 shift and the 2-1 shift.  Any ideas for a likely culprit?

BEWARE! that can be a very expensive transmission to fix. :grinyes: You can readjust the 1-2 band(the most rear adjustment on the outside [1 1/2 turns back from snug] ) The bonded piston for those 1-2 and also the 3-4 servos are bad for the rubber getting hard and separating from the metal core. If you drop the pan,it would be a good idea to retorque the valve body bolts to 85 inch pounds. They are real bad for VB gaskets blowing out and every one that I have seen blown out,the bolts were only finger tight! :screwy:
