Anyone know anything about the 4.7L?
« on: June 13, 2007 - 05:12:09 PM »
A friend of mine is looking at a 2004 Jeep, and it has a 4.7L engine in it. Does anyone here know anything about the engine as far as reliability maintainance, fuel economy, and performance?

They usually run very well.  Gas mileage isn't bad.

I've driven a dakota with a 4.7 and it was a pretty good engine. I have heard that the 4.7 has problems with sludge buildup (dont know if they still do), so make sure the oil is changed regularly.

I've got one in my grand cherokee. Strong running engine. With the KN kit, I get about 17.5 MPG average and over 22 on the highway.
Drive it like you stole it.
