I think it would be better off in a museum, where it could be kept under special conditions, as an example of "What not to do in a time capsule". It's just a piece of crap now, so who's going to want it anyway?

They should have put it in a stainless steel container that was then welded shut and pressure tested. Might be a suggestion for anyone that decides to build another time capsule.

I am really disappointed, however, that it did not come out in pristine condition. That would have been awesome.

Maybe Boyd Coddington can do a special show and restore it.

Boyd would make it worse than it already is. At least we can recognize what it is now.

I don't think Boyd could make it much worse...  :misbehaving:

He even said in the live webcast that "she should be left alone". R.I.P. poor miss Belvedere. :sadwavey:  :sadwavey:  :sadwavey:

They should put the car back in the hole and forget about it.  What a waste.

Sad that the preservation techniques of yesteryear didn't stand up to the ravages of time... but still a great car with a cool backstory!

I'm sure that, if they find an owner, it will either be restored, or will be donated/shown at a major museum for a while - perhaps the Wally P. or the Peterson?

I am sure the cosmoline would have held up fine if it weren't for the fact it was stored under water. It is was damp, but not swimming, it probably would have survived with little damage.
