Best Way to Remove Hood Emblems ??
«

I would like to remove the 383 Magnum hood emblems and replace them with new ones. It looks like the current ones are held in with a sort of one-way push-in retainer. I am looking for a way to remove these emblems without marking up the hood or messing up the small retainers on the underside. Somebody have a few ideas ? Thanks Mike

I just popped mine off the other day. I used alittle spray lube and worked them back and forth pushing from the inside with something. I could only get at one post per side. There is no access for the other post so be very careful and twist it alittle to help get it out. They are pushed into some sort of plastic tube or metal insert. Mine had both

But then how do you get that second, inaccessable pin attached once you put your new emblems on?
I was looking at that the other day... looks tough.

I believe there is some plastic retainer that holds the emblems on. A sort of sleeve type thing over the posts. I just used a little glue to hold the 440 emblems to my hood scoop. No problems, and everyone likes them.

The device is called a barrel nut, with a little lube & strategic leverage the pins will side out leaving the nut in the hood. They are re-usable... I found new one at a good Ace Hardware store for about .50 ea

Thanks for the great information. Now to try and get those off without messing up the paint on the hood. Hopefully they will work off with "a little lube & strategic leverage"
